NOTD: Hard Candy polish in Sky

I painted my nails for Easter with two coats of Hard Candy nail polish in Sky and Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine in Hallucinate.

I love this light blue polish and I absolute adore this glitter polish by WnW. I think they are so gorgeous together and very appropriate for the season

EOTD: pink&purple

I was watching this video the other day and thought her shimmery pastel purple makeup looked so pretty it inspired me to do my own pinkish purple look. I don't think I have ever worn pink eyeshadow before, I never thought it was something I could pull off. With pastels being so big this Spring I decided to finally give it a shot.

I blended together 2-3 different shades of purple and pink from my Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer eyeshadow palette to create this look...

I also used my Pixi Eye Brightening primer, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, e.l.f. Cream eyeliner in Purple, and Neutrogena Healthy Lengths mascara in black

I hope you enjoyed this look.
What colors are rocking this spring?

TAG: My Makeup Story

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I was able to start wearing mascara in 8th grade when I turned 13. That progressed into eyeliner and eyeshadow and powder foundation by the time I was in 9th grade. 10th grade is when I switched to actual foundation. By 11th grade I was earning my own money and could drive myself to the drugstore so I got more into blush, wearing foundation and powder together etc. My senior year I added experimenting with eyeshadow and smokey eye looks. My makeup progression kind of plateaued during the two years after high school but took off the Summer of 2010 when I had been watching Youtube for a few months and then made my first big e.l.f. order with my first makeup brushes and lipsticks and things like that.

2. How did you get into makeup?
I'd say Youtube/Beauty Blogs were the biggest influence that got me really interested in makeup beyond the everyday essentials.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
e.l.f., Wet 'n' Wild, Rimmel, Maybelline, Revlon

4. What does makeup mean to you?
Makeup is a hobby to me. It's a collection, a past time, an interest, an outlet for experimentation and creativity, and a way to meet and bond with new people. I go out without makeup all the time and I don't always wear a full face of makeup to work but when I get up early and take the time to get ready I really feel better overall. I feel more positive and I feel more put together and ready for the day.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Foundation, powder, blush, and lip balm. To me, nice looking skin is more important than eye makeup and when your skin looks nice you really don't need much more makeup.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
This might sound silly, but before I became really interested in makeup I felt like I didn't have a "thing". I wasn't going to school, all the friends I made during school had graduated and moved back home, and I didn't really have any hobbies. Working full time in a small town when you don't really know a lot of people makes for a pretty boring day to day life. Then I discovered blogs and YouTube and started playing with makeup and then started this blog. Now my sisters (and I have 3 of them) and my mom come to me for advice on makeup and I feel more confident in my own makeup. I just like having a thing. Makeup is my thing.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
I have little to no experience with high end makeup. So I can't really comment on that. But I have plenty of drugstore makeup and I love it!

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Get some makeup brushes. That made the biggest difference for me. Your face makeup will look better, your eye makeup will look better, and you will be able to experiment with a lot more looks and techniques.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Very brightly colored mascara if it isn't Halloween. I prefer black, brown, or very subtle color. I just don't think it's flattering.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
Well to be honest, I don't read the comments on videos and I don't comment a whole lot myself so I don't come across the "hate" very much. But I do think it's a great place for girls to get together and talk about makeup, fashion, hair, and just life in general. I like that I can go on there and know I can find a guru talking about almost anything I can think of and giving really good advice.

Old Navy Haul

Turns out I can't take pictures of clothing to save my life so I decided to use the pictures off the website instead. OldNavy.com had some good sales going on in addition to free shipping and a coupon code for 15% OFF so all in all... I had to get a few things!

Sequin Embellished Tee in Cast Iron $12.00
I'm slightly obsessed with sequins. And this color. So pretty! Not exactly spring-y but that's okay :)

Key-Hole Crochet-Trim Blouse in Crocodile Tear $9.00

I really like the color of this and the detailing along the neckline but it's super long on my and I can't decide how unflattering it is. This might be returned.

Hardware-Trim Blouse in Calla Lilly $8.50
I love the hardware along the sleeves, they are brass studs.

Twill 3/4 - Sleeve Blazer in Sandlot $37.00
I love the white and yellow pinstripe cuff on the sleeves. The material is pretty thin which means I will be able to wear this all summer!

Ruffle-Tier Jersey Cardigan in Into The Blue $9.00
Omg, I love this cardigan! I didn't know how much I would like it just looking at it on the site but actually on I love it! It's such a pretty blue and I love the material and the ruffles!

Satin-Trim Rib-Knit Cardigan in Black Jack $8.00

I already had this cardigan in white and plum so I thought I might as well get it in black because I love the style and who doesn't need another black cardigan. I did realize it is a knit cardigan, my others aren't. It's must thicker than my others. It's also super long. I think once I wash it and it shrinks a little it will fit better.

Sequin Stripe Cardigan in Marshmallow $8.50
*Please Note*
This picture is not the color Marshmallow but Marshmallow isn't available anymore so I had to settle for this picture. The sequins are the same but the fabric is white.

That's all for now!

e.l.f. Wish List #2

So my e.l.f. ban is up soon (4.27.2011 to be exact) and I decided to tease myself just a little and make myself a little wish list. I might extend the ban because 56 days really isn't that impressive (well for me it is but in general it's a little ridiculous).

Anyways, here's what caught my eye from

There wasn't as much as I thought there would be, this is a good sign!
{but I kind of really want that $50 grab bag... and you can get it (and all gift sets) for 50% off with
Code: MOM until 4/25/2011... this could be bad...}

What are you wishing for lately?

Mini Walmart Haul: Rimmel, Revlon, Sally Hansen

I have just got a few little things here and there to show you guys that I picked up from various trips to Walmart. It might not be the best idea financially, but mentally it sure makes grocery shopping easier if I know I can pick up a little makeup something for myself when I'm finished.

Rimmel London Glam'Eyes single eyeshadow in Urban Green

Rimmel London Lycra Lash Extender mascara in black
I had a $2.00 coupon off any Rimmel mascara and decided to repurchase this one instead of try something new. I love the wand and think it coats and lengthens my lashes really well.

Revlon Illuminance Creme shadow in Not Just Nudes

I frequently see this quad in video tutorials and although I don't normally go for creme eyeshadows I couldn't resist these gorgeous shades and decided this would be a good place to start. I'm interested in trying creme colors as the bases for my powder shadows.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Yellow Kitty and Thinking of Blue
I have always wanted to try this line from Sally Hansen but at $8.00 or more per bottle I figure I might as well purchase OPI or some other higher end brand. Turns out Walmart sells these for $5.50 and that I can definitely handle :)

Those are just a few little things I have picked up.
Have you tried any of these or something similar? What are your thoughts?

Collective Haul: JCPenny, Big Lots, Walgreens, Payless

Last weekend my hubby and I ran away to spend a few days in 85 degree weather (I couldn't wait another month for summer, I need it now!) and I did a little bit of shopping while I was there.

Here's a round up of the goodies I picked up

JCPenny

gold&brown aviator sunglasses, $9.99

Teal&Green canvas tote, $6.00

Payless

Faux leather pastel pink slouchy purse, $9.99

Olive/Sage/Forest green flats with brass stud detailing, $12.00

Big Lots

e.l.f. Studio lip stain in Heartbreaker, $2.50

Neutrogena Skinclearing oil-free concealer in Fair, $3.00

Neutrogen Skin Soothing Underye Corrector in Soft Light, $3.00

Paris Fashion (Big Lots version of Paris Hilton for Women by Paris Hilton), $3.50
Now I don't normally by knock off perfumes like this but I have had the real thing and absolutely loved it so I thought I would just smell this to see if they came close at all. Obviously I think it smells exactly the same or I wouldn't have bought it. I was so surprised! How do they do it...?

Maybelline Colorsensational lip gloss in Luminous Lilac, $1.50

Maybelline lipstick in Nude Shell, $1.50

Walgreens

May's People Style Watch and Allure, $2.99-3.99 each
I went out of town and didn't bring any magazines, I had to stock up on my favorites.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder trial size shampoo, conditioner, and lightening spray, $2.99

John Frieda Collection trial size Root Awakening Strength Restoring Shampoo and Conditioner for Breakage Prone hair, $0.99 each

WetnWild Coloricon 8-pan eyeshadow palette in Comfort Zone

I am so excited to finally have my hands on this palette! It's my first of the three 8-pan palettes and the colors are GORGEOUS!

I swatched a few of the colors...

Their pigmentation is fantastic. They are so soft and shimmery (no mattes in these palettes) and the colors all go together miraculously. I love it!!

Those are all the fun things I treated myself to this weekend. I had a really nice relaxing weekend and I sure wish I could do this all the time :)

“One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.”

This past weekend the husband and I ran away
We spent a lazy weekend in warm St. George
It was nice to spend the weekend together without distractions, without anywhere we have to be, or distractions from other people
We really didn't do anything significant
{Unless you count eating lobster for the first time}
I took a few pictures of beautiful St. George while we drove around like silly tourists

St. George Temple

I wish we could run away every weekend, I love husband&wifey weekends where I get my mister man all to myself!
