"A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken." ~James Dent

One of my favorite things about warmer weather is going on drives with my husband
We do it old school and hop into the Dodge
{which was born the same year I was}
roll the windows down&turn on some country

I can't wait until it's warm enough to take the four-wheeler instead

then we can stop and explore
and I get a tan.

“Don't worry about life, you're not going to survive it anyway.”

{That quote makes me laugh... a lot}
Today:
I made a new friend
My brother came to visit for the first time in a month
New friend, brother, and I hung out for a very long time
Took the kittens for a car ride
Discovered the Squeaver
Realized I really hate buffalo sauce
Packed light for the first time in my life
Ate sushi

And through all this, can only think about one thing
The next few days are going to be so slow

“Home is home, be it ever so humble”

I sure want one of those
I can't think about anything else
Sometimes I wish I didn't have to be patient, like ever.

Spring Organizing and Cleaning

I have been hit with the spring cleaning bug and have the overwhelming desire to throw everything away. I want to get rid of all the clutter and simplify my life!

I decided to start with my vanity in my bedroom.
This is what it looked like when I started...

This is what it looks like now!

I got rid of a bunch of old makeup, including my whole mascara drawer...

It was really hard to throw away all my mascaras because I was still using them all but they are all 4-6 months old and it was there time to go.

I also went through my mess of a nail polish collection.
Before

During

I threw away a bunch of old polishes

After!

I filled up a garbage and a half with junk and old products

I'm much happier with my vanity now and it feels so good to be rid of that extra clutter.

NYX - Diamond Sparkle Gloss Set (with swatches)

NYX cosmetics were on Hautelook about a month ago and I couldn't resist taking a peek at what they had on sale. Now clearly I did not need what I purchased but I REALLY wanted it. Which brings us to this post, because of course, I gave in and bought...

13 Piece NYX - Diamond Sparkle Gloss Set, $21.50

These glosses are really smooth and pigmented. They don't feel sticky at all. A few of the shades have slightly larger shimmers in them as opposed to the majority which have very fine shimmer.
I've found the swatches on your arm aren't always 100% accurate to what they look like on your lips so what did I do?
Oh yes, I put on and took off 13 glosses in one sitting. They are posted in the order I put them on and you might notice by the end my lips are looking a little abused, I hope you don't mind.

Let's take a look...

Bare lips with lip balm

Silver Sparkle

Pink Sparkle

Rust Sparkle

Paprika Sparkle

Copper Sparkle

Fuschia Sparkle

Red Sparkle

Ginger Sparkle

Orange Sparkle

Beige Sparkle

Gold Sparkle
(Ke$ha much?!)

Walnut Sparkle

Bronze Sparkle

As you can see these are not all totally wearable colors. I think my favorite and most wearable are Pink, Beige, Orange (When applied with a light hand), Ginger, and Bronze.
Others that I think would look best applied sheerly over another lip gloss or lip stick are Copper, Fuschia, and Red. Some of the reddish shades are pretty similar and not even I can tell the difference.
Others are just crazy. Case in point: GOLD!
Haha just kidding, I think with a nude lip and a hint of the gold gloss might actually look really cute!

Those are all of my NYX glosses that came in the set.
Who cares that I had to buy another small set of plastic drawers just so I could organize and house these nicely with my other lip products...
In my defense, I have already given away one of the glosses.

Don't judge me for my addiction to makeup :)

Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day.

I had such a good Saturday
I woke up at 8:30. When I saw how sunny it was outside I decided it was time for the mister to wake up as well. How did I wake up him up you ask? I spent twenty minutes telling him it was 10:30 and that he was sleeping that day away. Needless to say, it worked. He got up. Didn't take him long to realize he had been tricked though. I'm so sneaky.
We went to the post office to mail some surprise packages.
Then to Subway for breakfast. We had never had their breakfast sandwiches before but they were super yummy and filling!
We finished breakfast at about 11am and off we went to adventure around the county

I met a wood pecker for the first time

Found a tulip amidst the jungle of the front yard

Found a family of pigs (my favorite animal)

I couldn't believe how tiny and cute all the piglets were

I want a tree just like this when I buy a house

Passed an old man on a four wheeler with an old fat pug
in a basket on the front of the four wheeler

Saw quite a bit of beautiful farm land.

My husband washed my car for me.

Then the husband disappeared for a while to go play with his friends and I decided to tackle organizing my vanity.

I cleaned, organized, and threw away SO much junk. I didn't realize how much had accumulated but it sure felt good to clean up this messy corner of my bedroom.
Then I got a call from a friend of mine asking if mister and I could come help her load some rabbit cages she had sold onto the back of the buyers trailer. We rushed on over and brought along three other guys to help move the cages. Little did anyone realize how large the cage was. The buyer didn't bring a trailer so the cage had to be lifted....

Largest rabbit cage I have ever seen. I'm still wondering how their drive home went...
There were ten people there total. Getting those cages moved was quite the entertaining ordeal. I'm sure glad she called us to come help.
Then the husband and I had dinner and headed straight for bed

only to find half our bedroom floor soaked with water
Thursday night landlord came down to mess with somethingorother having to do with the water
Turns out he didn't tighten somethingorother enough and it has been leaking for days
The closet under the stairs is full of water which seeped through the walls and left our carpet and box spring sopping wet.
The icing on the cake though was the conversation as landlord appeared to be leaving.
Us: "Landlord, what is your plan for our soaked carpet and bed?" Landlord: "Oh it'll dry"
... Awesome.

Now our mattress is on the ground in our living room and we will be camping out here for a few days while "it dries"
Oh well at least the rest of the day was nice, right?

NOTD: Revlon Lilac Pastelle + WnW Wild Shine in Sparked

Hi there!

I was craving a very girly manicure and decided to use my Revlon polish in Lilac Pastelle.

As you can tell it's not really lilac at all but a pale pink. I love the shade. I had to apply three coats for full opacity. Then for my accent nails I chose Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Sparked. I used two coats.

I love the final look. This was such a fun manicure. It was girly and very pretty. I love it.
