Mini NYC Haul

Of course my first post after saying I can't do hauls is.... a haul.
I was grocery shopping with my husband this past weekend and there was a coupon sitting on a shelf for $5.00 off $10.00 worth of NYC products. The coupon/makeup/gooddealonmakeup bug bit me and I just couldn't resist. I was suddenly hit with the urge to pull out every makeup coupon in my wallet and use every single one. That worried my husband {muwhahaha} and he thought it necessary I make a small makeup purchase.

Here is what I picked up

NYC In A New York Color Minute nail polish
{Left} Times Square and {Right} Radio City Rose

I love this line of NYC polishes. I have quite a few and they are some of my favorites. These two colors in particular scream summer to me. I love them!

NYC Liquid Lipshine in Nude York City

I have always loved the NYC liquid lipshines. This is a really nice nude colored gloss with a little shimmer to it. I particularly like the wand in these glosses. It's a really long sponge tip applicator.

I find this makes applying my gloss a lot easier and quicker because there is the perfect amount of product for my lips.

NYC Smooch Proof 16 HR Lip Stain in Champagne Stain

I love love love this lip stain! It doesn't have a nasty taste or smell. It's such a gorgeous color and has great pigmentation. I wore this to work one day and brought it with me to reapply and didn't need to once. I drink a lot of water through the day plus this lasted through breakfast and lunch! I was so impressed.

Those are the things I picked up with the coupon. It was fun to treat myself to a few new things. I will have swatches this weekend. I hope you're all doing so wonderful! Oh I will also have a quick review on an NYC Jumbo Eye Pencil I got last month and forgot to show you!

"The only reason why we ask other people how their weekend was is so we can tell them about our own weekend."

what was i up to this weekend? not a whole lot, let's be honest

friday: signed some realtor type papers. tagged along with my husband for the last of his work day errands. hung out at the shop for like 4 hours while he serviced a truck.

saturday: hung out my big brother. did lots of cruising around. ate yummy mexican food. watched harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1. ate bagel bites. ate cookies. ate a hamburger. watched someone get pulled over which I always miss.

sunday: slept in late. hung out with my sweetheart. did some cleaning. overall laziness. it's only 6:40 so I have a good 4 hours left of day to go but i doubt there will be much excitement.

somewhere in there i did my grocery shopping {the husband and i are on a strict budget so our home decorating budget can be as fat as possible} drove past the house 10 times and made 7 paper airplanes

i hope your weekend was as lazy and relaxing as mine. i have chicken cooking in the crock pot for enchiladas and a husband who should be home from his farmly duties any minute now.

tomorrow is the home inspection so keep your fingers and toes crossed. i think i will be able to have pictures of the house up before the end of the week! hooray

i don't think i have too much else going on except that the husband came home, i asked him to turn the crock pot up to high and he told me it wasn't even on. fail.

p.s.
it's summer

I don't want to look for a quote I just want to scream WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!!

My most recent posts have hinted that Adam and I want to buy a house!
I hadn't told my parents yet and couldn't let them find out on my blog.
But now that all the mothers know I can officially say

Adam and I are buying a house!

There is this website and for a year we have stalked this website looking at all the houses in our county.
Not always with the intent to buy but just to keep up with the houses for sale, learn what we want, what we don't want, where we want, and how much we want etc.

[ex.] every time I go to that website I search 2+ bathrooms, 0.50+ acre, 1,500+ square feet, and cap off the prices at $110,000.

I knew those were my requirements and everything else could vary.
We were interested in a particular house a few blocks away from where Adam grew up and called our realtor {we have worked with in the past} to go do a walk through. Unfortunately, it was already under contract. so sad.
Luckily for us, our realtor had two other houses in mind to show us.

First house?
5 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, .23 acre, 2200 square feet, $98,900
The house was built in 1976. I have come to learn that houses built in 1900 {i.e. the super old ones} are often times in better shape because someone has recently remodeled them. The house built 40 years ago? Still look like its 40 years ago. We weren't too interested in the house. We don't mind putting some work into the house but I don't want to remodel two bathrooms before I even like my house. You know what I mean? Plus, the yard was half the size what we wanted.

The second house she wanted to take us to was one we had seen listed online but didn't think twice about it because of {a} the super low price {b} it's bank owned {c} they did not have any pictures of the inside [which if you ask me means awful, horrible, ugly, nightmare]. We didn't have anything else going on that night and agreed to go walk through the house. If you haven't guessed it yet, that's that one we put an offer on.

the house
5 bedroom {but one is super small and i'm going to make it into my closet. if you think i'm kidding, i'm not} 2 bathrooms, .53 acre, 1,700+ square feet {bank did really bad job estimating square footage}
I'm not going to say the asking price of the house because I plan to show pictures and I want you think it cost a million bucks ;) {but really I'm not being too deceptive since I said above where we capped off our house budget}

We put in an offer on the house May 27. The seller had until June 1 to respond. On May 31 we found out someone else put in an offer on the house at the same time. We re-submitted "our best offer" blabla sneaky seller blabla boring stuff on May 31 and still gave them only until June 1 at 5:00pm to respond. If we didn't hear anything by 5:00pm it meant they were going with the other offer. June 1 was a really long and nail biting day. By that evening we had not heard anything and our realtor had been unable to reach the seller. From June 1 to June 3 we were a step above devastated. It was such a cute house with everything we wanted and a stellar price and we just felt like someone else was going to get every house we wanted {this same thing happened last year with a house we put an offer on} But as luck would have it, the night of June 3 we got a call from our realtor and the seller had gone with our offer just failed to get back us in time.

The rest of that weekend was spent planning, dreaming, designing, giggling, driving past the house a million times, etc. Even though we know there is still so much to do before it is really ours, we were just so excited we couldn't help ourselves! Anyways, our lender and realtor both think we will be closed before the end of this month!

By Fourth of July we could be BBQing in our very own backyard!
This is such an exciting time in our life and we are so head over heels house crazy right now.
All I can think about are cabinets, paint colors, decor, furniture arrangement. I'm lacking in every other area I need to set my mind to.

If anyone has an expert advice on anything home buying, home moving, home decorating related, please feel free to let me know. I am very much at novice at all of this and while it should be overwhelming, I don't think I have quite grasped it all and I'm just in
La La excitementLand.

Get me talking about something I am excited for and I could go forever!

I will keep updating as things progress. I hope to take pictures this week when we go in for the home inspection!
Until then, keep your fingers crossed that everything continues to go so well!!

Review: Hard Candy Lash Call Lengthening Mascara

About a month ago I was looking for a blue mascara for something going on at work. I don't wear colored mascara on a daily basis (or ever) so I needed to pick one up from Walmart on my way home from work.
I ended up going with this Hard Candy Lash Call Lengthening mascara in Peacock

It was only $5.00 or $6.00 and the only brand I could find at the time with colored mascara.
I wasn't concerned about how lengthening or volumizing it was going to be for my lashes, I just wanted bright blue eyelashes!

The wand if kind of weird compared to regular mascara. It's really long, skinny, straight, and the bristles are tiny! It was weird to use and felt awkward trying to coat all my lashes.

The color is really pretty and I was so happy it swatched as bright as the bottle.

Unfortunately the formula was really runny which I had never experienced with a mascara before. I tried it on the night before I was going to wear it and you couldn't even tell my lashes were blue! They still looked black. Even though the color swatched so brightly on my skin, it was thin that I couldn't get enough to actually show up. I decided to wear it anyways the next day and put on like 4 coats so my lashes had a hint of blue. The mascara was so uncomfortable on my lashes. It dried really hard and crunchy.
The worst part about the mascara though?
Half way through the day I went in the bathroom to check my mascara and the ends of my lashes were curling the wrong direction!!!
How does that even happen!?
I wish I had gotten a picture to show you guys because it was the weirdest thing I had ever seen. The ends of my top lashes weren't curling up towards my eyebrows they were curling over backwards if that makes sense...
Let me illustrate

It was disturbing. I have never worn this mascara again and now that I have done this post I am going to go throw it away. I realize not everyone buys colored mascara but Hard Candy also makes this in black and brown. I would hate for someone to get sucked in by cute packaging to land themselves with a crappy mascara (Just described me, completely.)

The formula, the wand, and the crazy eyelash side effects make this mascara a huge THUMBS DOWN!

Review: Equate Micro Dermabrasion Exfoliating Cleansing Towelettes

Hi ladies,
Earlier this year I decided to try a new kind of makeup remover wipes. I picked up the Equate Micro Dermabrasion Exfoliating Cleansing Towelettes.

The ingredients if you're interested. (Not that I know what they mean lol)

Here is what the product looks like.
I like the tub the wipes came in. It's actually really good quality and the colors are pretty.
The wipe itself has a textured side and a smooth side.
I used these for about two months.
During those two months my skin got so irritated, dry, and flaky.
It took me about a month to figure out it was the wipes irritating my skin. As soon as I stopped using the wipes my skin got better and all the dryness went away. I don't know if it's the alcohol in the wipes that make them so harsh but I have never had that problem with any other face wipes. I have even used other Equate wipes that didn't bother my skin like these did.
I was drawn in to try the product because I thought it would be great if I could exfoliate, remove makeup, and cleanse my skin all in one step.
Shame on me for being lazy. My poor skin paid for it.
I don't recommend using these wipes.

I haven't thrown the wipes away because I use them on my arm/hand when I am swatching makeup. I plan on using them all up and keeping the tub so I can just buy the refill packs of future makeup wipes and save a dollar or two instead of always buying the pack in the tub.

In summary, Don't buy these makeup wipes!

xoxo
