Cute & Affordable School Supplies from Walmart! {+ a few beauty products}

I made two trips to WalMart recently. The first was to pick up a prescription (which obviously meant I needed to wander through the school supply section) and the second was with my friend to purchase things we didn't need (which resulted in the purchase of a few beauty products).

Covergirl -- Line Exact liquid eyeliner & Lashblast Volume mascara 

(both in color: Very Black)

I had a coupon for $3.00 off any 2 Covergirl products. I decided to purchase an old favorite I was out of and try something new! I have loved lashblast volume for years. It is always my favorite mascara to go back to. The eyeliner however, was a new product for me. 

I've been loyal to the L'Oreal Lineur Intense liquid eyeliner for quite some time but the small packaging is part of what drew me to this CG product. If you've ever seen the L'Oreal liner you know the lid is ridiculously long. Like... doesn't make sense it is so long. I thought perhaps this would be easier to work with. I do love the size but I've been having a hard time getting as thin a line as I would like. I don't know if the felt tip is too thick or what but my liner always turns out too thick when I use this. I also feel like it is a little too dry. I'm having to go over certain spots multiple times to achieve an opaque black. 

To be quite honest, I don't think I'd purchase it again. I have such better luck with the L'Oreal liner I think I'll just stick with that.

Olay Fresh Effects {Everything Off} Deluxe Make-up Removal wet cloths

Whenever I talk about makeup wipes I always say the Simple Cleansing Wipes are my favorites and that I'm always disappointed when I try a different brand. I went to Walmart to pick up a pack of those exact wipes but Walmart was out!!! (People are catching on, they're the best). These caught my eyes on the shelf below. I've seen them talked about on YouTube (I'm pretty sure those people were paid to talk about them though... so I never trusted their opinion) so I decided to check out the package. They are almost a dollar cheaper for the same number of wipes and I figured I would like something called "Deluxe Make-up Removal Wet Cloths". 

I was wrong.

These aren't wet. Not nearly wet enough. And the fragrance in them is so overpowering it makes my eyes burn! The cloths feel thin like they will rip easily. It says on the package that it removes waterproof eye make-up. I can't even get it to remove regular mascara. I would hate to try waterproof.

 Gahh.... I hate them. I'm going to finish the package because I won't waste them. But I want it to be known I hate them. The only thing going for it is its cute packaging. That's all.

Now on to the really fun stuff! The school supplies (or since I'm not really going back to school we will call them really cute office supplies!)

Scotch Magic Tape + bonus roll of Scotch Expressions tape

I bought the 3 rolls of plain ol' tape so I could get the "free" role of freakin' cute patterned tape. I think it stems from my washi addiction. I will say it was only $2.97 for all 4 rolls and I will save the three plain rolls as backups at my desk. So they won't go to waste but yes, I bought it just for that one cute roll. And how cute it is!? I mean, really. I can't wait to start using it!

Post-it Super Sticky Notes

I bought one pad of Post-it notes in a bright coral pink color I didn't already have. I'm somewhat addicted to Post-it notes and couldn't resist the color... It was cheap though. And you can never have enough sticky notes so I felt justified :)

College Ruled 5 subject poly notebook (8.26 x 6.75)

I'm a sucker for cute notebooks. The cute purple cover and the different colored tabs of this notebook are right up my alley. I like that it isn't quite a full size notebook which makes it easy to carry in my purse but is still large enough for substantial lists (I write big lists...). I'm also a fan of the plastic-y tabs. I think it will help them last longer and hold up to wear and tear!

Studio C The Sugarland Collection 5 subject notebook

The print. Did you see the print? I love the print. Gahh this is so cute! And what can I say... I always need notebooks and it is nice to find ones that are both cute AND sturdy. The cardboard cover and tabs are very thick and sturdy. I like having notebooks to corral all of my lists together and one with tabs means I can categorize my lists too!

Studio C The Pattern Play collection folder with pockets

I was so excited to see this folder! I think it will be a great organization tool and its so cute! I'm a full believer that organization and home management can be cute! Aside from the adorable color and pattern these folders feel sort of plastic-y/vinyl (that might be the totally wrong description but I just mean to get across that it isn't paper) so it is going to last! It won't tear or fray like paper does which makes it a great long-term addition to my home management organization system.

Imagination Academic Year weekly/monthly dated planner

You might be thinking "But Brittany, you just bought a planner not too long ago, why do you need another one!?" Well, I was finding that there were so many things I wanted to write in that small planner that I was running out of room. When I saw this adorable planner for $9.00 I knew I had to pick it up. I'm thinking of using it for finances and cleaning. That might seem like a weird combination but the biggest lists I make are cleaning lists and the things I forget most are finances (most of our bills are automatic but I just want to be more aware of when things are going to go through and I think keeping track of it in a space that is less cramped will help me achieve that). Then I can save my small planner for appointments, birthdays, fun plans, etc.

That's everything I picked up! I'm really excited about the new office supplies I picked up. There is something about school supply season in the stores that makes me want to wander every aisle of every store with a "Back to school" section. (& pick up a few cute things, lets be honest)

July Favorites! Skincare, Beauty, Food, & Memories!

I can't believe July is over and we are already a week into August! 2014 is flying by!

I've gathered up some favorite things from July and want to share them with you today.

I'll start with some random favorites 

(all my favorites are random to be honest. but these are even more random and could not be categorized)

BIC Intensity Fine Point pens

Lily Pad Press greeting cards (purchased at Walmart)

Pens - I ordered these pens online from Staples in May (i think) and I have been loving them ever since. They came in a pack with black, purple, aqua, pink, and green but the black and purple have been my favorites. They write so nicely and the best part is, they don't bleed through paper! (I also think my handwriting looks cuter when I use these pens)

Cards- It might seem weird to have a favorite greeting card line but I had 3 birthdays in July and my anniversary August 1 so I bought 4 cards from this line in July and I have purchased from them in the past. The cards are really nice quality, unique, and absolutely adorable. I hate having to wander around the aisles trying to find a card when most of them are cheesy and embarrassing. I love knowing I can walk right to this section and find exactly what I'm looking for. These cards are the best!

Skincare! 

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

As always, these makeup wipes are my favorite. Every time I try a different brand I am disappointed. They are less than $5 for 25 wipes. The cloth is thick and feels nice on the skin. They are wet enough, even down to the last cloth. They are gentle and they really do remove my makeup. I have found they are better for face makeup than eye makeup (like liquid liner or mascara) but they can still do the job it just takes a little more work. I love them. I'd totally recommend them to anyone in a heart beat.

Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant

Deodorant is skincare, right!? I know it might seem weird sharing (or even having) a favorite deodorant but July was hot here in Utah and every day I found myself grateful for such an awesome deodorant. So here I am. Sharing that deodorant with you.... :)

Seriously though. This stuff smells awesome. Lasts all day. Keeps me from sweating. & doesn't leave marks on my clothes. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR IN A DEODORANT!?

Garnier Clean+ Nourishing Cleansing Oil

I purchased this oil a while back from WalMart and just fell back in love with it. The first time I heard about cleansing oils (a few years back in an email from sister) I thought it was idea ever. I already have oily skin so why would I want to put more oil on it? Then a little while later I read this blog post from someone with oily skin who loved cleansing oils. Not too long after that I got free sample of a cleansing oil and I loved it but I never bought any because I didn't want to pay for a high end cleansing oil. And then Garnier released their Nourishing Cleansing Oil AND put a coupon in my Glamour magazine. The rest is history. I love this stuff. I'll admit it feels really weird at first rubbing oil all over my face but it is so gentle, it lifts away all of my makeup, and it is amazing AMAZING at removing all kinds of eye makeup. I just rub it in and rinse it off. I have found the rubbing and rinsing goes so much easier when I use this little silicon scrubby pad I got from Sephora. It is super soft so I even use it on my eyes and it helps take everything off even quicker.

I could talk about this forever because I love it that much. Oh, one last thing. It says on the bottle "Dry Skin" but I haven't had any issues with it and I have oily/combination, acne prone skin. I would imagine it works well on any skin type though because it is so gentle.

Simple Soothing Facial Toner

I have another product to rave about. I have been searching for the right drugstore toner my whole life (practically) and I have finally found it. I have tried many high end toners (the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion being my favorite) but hated paying the high end price. I've always tried many drugstore toners and hated how harsh and drying they were. Then along came this little guy. It is calming, gentle, soothing, fragrance free and doesn't dry out my skin in the slightest. And it is only $3 or $4. I'm so in love and so glad I finally tried this toner. I imagine this is the start of a beautiful relationship.... :)

Tokyo Milk Dark hand cream in La Vie La Mort

I ordered this hand cream a year or two ago from Sephora and found myself using it nightly in July. I kept it in my nightstand and before bed I would use a small amount on my hands. I love the unique scent and the light texture. It soaks in quickly and leaves my hands feeling really soft. It is in this really cool metal packaging which I think looks so cute. It was pricey, I definitely splurged on this but I'm so glad I did because it is such a favorite.

Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Rosy Lipped

Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade

These two have been my favorite lip combo throughout July (and still into August). The Revlon lip butter is just a little too pink for me so I don't like wearing it alone. The Almay gloss is pretty much the color of my lips and doesn't show up as much more than a sheen. Together though I get the pretty pink lip butter and can tone it down a bit & add a nice gloss with the Almay liquid lip balm. Plus, it is always nice to find moisturizing lip products that also look cute!

Realtree For Her perfume

I got this perfume sample in an Ipsy bag a few months ago (June maybe?) and I used the entire thing in July. It is a larger sample size than the usual free sample you get online. Realtree actually sells this size on their website. I immediately fell in love with the scent and wore it every day until it was gone. It is a sweet but fresh scent that isn't overwhelming. I was really pleased to see on their website that a full size bottle is only $20! I love finding perfumes that smell good and don't cost an arm and a leg!

Food!

Dannon Light & Fit Plain Greek yogurt

I'm obsessed with Plain Greek Yogurt! But don't go thinking I eat this for breakfast with fruit and granola. Oh no! I use this with lunch and dinner in place of sour cream! I've used it on all kinds of mexican food dishes. I've mixed it in to cream sauces. Stirred in seasonings and made it into a dip for chips and veggies. It tastes exactly the same and is so much healthier! My husband can't even tell the difference!

Reusable Water bottle (purchased at WalMart)

Another favorite from July was my reusable water bottle. It doesn't have a brand name anywhere but I have been purchasing this water bottle at WalMart for years. I have had green, purple, and now I'm using blue. I like the size, that its double walled, and the straw. I find it easy to use, not too heavy, and holds enough water that I don't feel like I'm constantly having to refill it. Plus, I love that the mouth of the bottle is wide enough I can easily add ice cubes right from my freezer!

Pink Peonies 

I have been loving the blog Pink Peonies. I discovered the blog in July and quickly became addicted. I love her style, beautiful home, and cute puppy dog! She has the most amazing wardrobe and closet to store it in. She's even from Utah which is exciting (to me 'cuz I live in Utah so it might not matter to you lol). I definitely recommend checking out her blog (link above).

TV!

Rookie Blue

I really got back into Rookie Blue this season and have been watching all of the episodes on Hulu. I don't find myself watching as much TV in the summer because my usual shows run in the fall/winter so it is nice to find something I look forward to watching each week.

Favorite Memories!

July was a really great month for me and I hope it was the same for you! It started out with Fourth of July weekend. My husband and I stayed home instead of traveling up to be with family so I planned lots of good food (which you can see here What We Ate: 4th of July Weekend). We watched the fireworks on a sleeping bag in our backyard since our city sets them off just a few blocks from our house. They always put on a really good show!

I did go up to be with family on other weekends, and even had family come down to my house! My parents came down for dinner one night and we had a little BBQ. I spent the weekend at their house and went to the Aquarium with my best friend (which you can see here Weekend Vlog to the Aquarium). Then my 4 month old niece slept over at my parent's house. I always love getting to spend time with her. I think she is just the cutest! A few weeks later I got to have another sleep over with my niece when my brother came down to the visit and stay the night!

My husband had a lot of farming to do in July and when he wasn't farming he was building his derby car for a a Demolition Derby. Yep, he spends all year building the car so that he can drive around in an arena with a bunch of crazy guys and they crash their cars into each other. Boys are silly. The derby was towards the end of July and he had a lot of fun. This is his second derby with that car and he says he thinks he can get a third out of it!

My best friend came down for the derby (it was her first) so it was fun watching with her. Then we had a 2 day sleepover which was so much fun. She lives about an hour away so when she is in town we hang out a lot! We went out to eat, did a little shopping, and watched 6 or 7 movies! It was a blast!

There were three birthdays in my family in July. First was my brother's girlfriend. Then my husband. And the last day of July was my other brother's birthday. I had a lot of fun shopping for birthday presents and picking out birthday cards! I even took my husband on a birthday shopping spree but he didn't really buy anything for himself (I think he bought things for the yard and something for the dog. Like I said... boys are silly.)

I ended the month by getting my wisdom teeth out on the 31st. I wasn't thrilled about getting it done (especially since it was the day before our 5 year wedding anniversary) but I was having a lot of pain in my mouth so it needed to be done.

I'm very excited for August and I can't wait for Fall to be here so the weather can start cooling down! Plus, my birthday is in September! There are lots of good things to look forward to. I hope the same for you!

July 2014 Ipsy bag! Pixi, bareMinerals, Pur-lisse, Model's Own & more!

This month marks one year for my Ipsy subscription! I can happily say I'm still as excited about it today as I was with my first bag and I think the products are getting better each month!

Here's what came this month...

I was so excited to see this bright pink bag! It is very soft, like leather. The scalloped detail on the edges is totally cute and feminine. And I love the large square size as it will allow for greater storage when re-purposing the bag!

Ipsy is a $10/month subscription service (with free shipping)! You take a quiz upon joining to determine your beauty profile which is a factor in the products you receive each month! Then after receiving each bag you can go on and review the items (and receive points towards free stuff) which continues to shape what you'll receive in your future bags. I have found it to be a great way to try products that are often new to the market but almost always new to me that I wouldn't have otherwise purchased or had the chance to try!

This month was no exception...

Pur~lisse pur~protect essential daily moisturizer spf 30

(full size retails for $55.00 // value of this sample is $16.17)

This seems like a lightweight moisturizer with a very light sunscreen scent to it. I have used it a few times and have been pleased with the results. It says it is for normal to dry skin. I have oily acne prone skin so I'm going to watch carefully for new breakouts. I will discontinue use if I find it to be too oily for my skin.

Models Own Nail Polish in Red Sea

I painted my nails with this color the day after receiving the bag. I've always been intrigued by this U.K. brand and was ecstatic to finally try it. I don't know if all of their polishes are of such poor quality but this one was terrible! It was thick, goopy, and very hard to work with. I couldn't stand to have it on my nails for longer than a day or two.

Clear Clinic Laboratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment

I was pretty excited to see this in my bag. I'd never heard of it before but since it is just a spot treatment and you only have to use the tiniest amount I think it will actually last long enough for me to get a good idea of whether or not it is working. Skincare samples, like washes or serums, are frequently too small to get enough uses to the point of knowing if it really works so I always appreciate when the samples are large enough to really form an opinion about it! I have used this a few times already and am already thrilled that it isn't one of those acne treatments that dries out your skin leaving it cracked and flaky. Something I found interesting about it is that it is a liquid, not a gel or cream which is most common in spot treatments. I'm going to continue using it to see if it can really help with my breakouts!

bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in shade Soft Shell

(full size retails for $18.00 // don't have exact size of sample but full size is only 0.10 fl oz. I'd guess this sample is at least $3.00)

I've been using this product almost everyday since getting my ipsy bag. I just apply mine like a primer and put eyeshadow over it. They make other shades that can be worn on their own but this just blends into my skin so it would just look like I wasn't wearing eyeshadow. I'm really excited about this product. It blends nicely almost into a light powdery feeling. It holds my shadows on well too! It also has spf in it! I never think about my eyelids needing sunscreen but as long as I'm using this they will! I would love to buy a full size some day but I can't imagine I ever would because of the price.

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm in Unique Pink

I was more excited about this when I first opened the bag than I am now. Although it has a nice minty smell and is a smooth balm the shade I received is hardly tinted. I don't see any color on my lips or swatched on my hand. Maybe I'll keep it in my purse if I don't have any other lip balm but I would have preferred to get a darker pink shade that would actually show up when applied.

Overall, I'm really excited about this month's bag. The actual bag is totally adorable. I like the moisturizer, cream eyeshadow, and spot treatment. I don't mind the balm though I'd have preferred a different color. The only one I didn't like was the nail polish!

The retail value of the products in the bag (not counting the value of the bag itself) is $45.02!

And need I remind you I only paid $10 :) Monthly subscriptions are so fun.

WalMart Beauty Haul! (Skincare, Haircare, Nails, & more!)

My husband and I stopped at WalMart after going out for dinner because I needed to buy some tampons. We like to be very sarcastic and joke with each other so while parking the car we were joking about something and I said to my husband "Why don't you just stay in the car!?" The car stops, I get out, and realize he is still in the car. "Haha, very funny." I think. "He'll get out of the car now." I say to myself. "He'll come walking in behind me."

Nope. 

"He really stayed in the car!" Psshh! "Oh no he didn't!" 

So I thought to myself "I'll teach him to let me go in the store alone!" So I picked up my tampons... and two things of dry shampoo, some toner, and lip balm, nail polish remover, and more! Bahaha! 

I thought I was so funny.

(I did buy him one of those $1 boxes of movie theater candy for sitting in the car while I wandered through the store.)

 He actually did find it funny when I walked out with my bag full of stuff.

Now I want to share that bag full of stuff with you 

(Minus the tampons... 'cuz they're just tampons, what more is there to say...)

Simple Soothing Facial Toner, $5.97

I have been in need of a facial toner for some time now after running out of my huge bottle of Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing toner. I had seen this talked about in YouTube videos but have had such bad experiences with drugstore toners in the past (too much alcohol making it over-drying) so I've been hesitant to try it. Something I'd never noticed until today was that it says "100% Alcohol free" which instantly made it better than all the other toner options on the shelf. So into my cart it went!

I used it for the first time and it had zero scent (no fragrance, very good!). It also made my skin feel softer and smoother than it was before. It didn't burn or tingle nor did my skin feel dry at all!! It actually reminds me so much of my {over-priced} Mario Badescu toner I'd used for so long (but for a quarter of the price)!

Hopefully my first impression lasts because I would love to find an affordable drugstore toner that is actually good! I'll keep you posted...

Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo, $4.74

I have used two kinds of dry shampoo: the uuber affordable and citrus scented Suave dry shampoo and the very popular Tresemme Fresh Start dry shampoo. I was adequately pleased with both of them but ready to try something new! I didn't have any at home so I decided to pick this up on recommendation from my sister in law. I already love this brand so much so I didn't hesitate at all when I saw this at my Walmart.

Hopefully it lives up to my expectations!

got2b Rockin' it 4ever stylestay encore fresh dry shampoo, $3.97

Can we discuss how long the name of this is? I mean I'm assuming that is all part of its name... I don't even know... but it just goes on and on lol. This is another hair care brand I have tried several times over the years so I picked it up as well... because why only have one of something at a time when you can buy two. LOL Really it was a little impulsive of me but I wanted to be able to try out both and see which is better.

I didn't do it for me, it was for you! ...does that excuse work? :)

got2b POWDER'ful Volumizing Styling Powder, $3.97

I have heard of these volumizing powders before but never tried one. I saw this video on YouTube of MissGlamorazzi showing how she is styling her new shorter hair style and she uses like a million products but she makes it look so easy and her hair turns out amazing and basically I want to be her... so I'm starting with a volumizing powder :) 

This isn't even the same brand she used but it is cheaper and that's how I roll! I have no idea what to expect from this or if I'll actually be able to make it work in my hair!

EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet, $2.97

I have used several of these over the years but haven't had one in quite a while. My WalMart recently put up a huge display and I've been looking at it every week when I do my grocery shopping and finally had to pick one up! I've never tried this scent before so I scooped it right up!

As expected it smells amazing! And as always, these feel amazing on the lips. If you've never tried one before you must get out from under that rock you've been hiding under and GO GET ONE! Right now!

Can you tell I like them? Just a little :) I mean they are the funnest shaped lip balm ever.

elf Nail Polish Remover Pads, $2.00

I have always been curious about nail polish remover pads but never wanted to take the plunge since I have a bottle of remover and my own cotton rounds so why waste the money on some pre-soaked pads, right!? But I go up to my parents on the weekends a few times a month and I get tired of dragging along a full bottle of remover (which has leaked on me many a time & is so annoying). Hence this purchase!

For $2.00, even if they suck I'll at least know and will stop wondering! I tried one out and it worked pretty well actually (and on red polish which tends to be stubborn)! I did notice it made my fingertips dry out a bit but anything with acetone tends to do that.

Yard Sale Haul & DIY {Before & After}

I'm very excited to share not only a haul of items I picked up from numerous yard sales I visited one Saturday but I'm also going to show you the DIY projects I did with some of them and how they are all currently being used in my house!

I set out on my yard sale adventure with zero expectation to find anything but I ended up driving all over the county and had a total blast! When I visit yard sales and thrift stores the two things I find myself purchasing most are frames and glass items (jars, vases, bowls, etc.) and this trip was no exception!

Here is a before shot of everything I purchased!

Here's the rundown...

3 small intricate frames $1.00

1 bundle of ivory lace $1.00

15 half sheets patterned scrapbook paper $0.75

1 fabric stitch in wood frame $0.50

1 decorative glass bowl $0.50

1 glass atlas mason jar $0.50

1 large glass jar with lid $0.50

1 small glass jar with lid & buckle $1.00

And without further adieu... the after photos :)

First up, the frames!

I couldn't resist the intricate design of these frames. Even though the frames themselves are so small I had to pick them up anyways! I love how they turned out once I spray painted them!

When I was working on the items from the yard sales I also completed a few other projects I had lying around. I rearranged a gallery wall I have in my kitchen and was able to take a few things from there combined with my yard sale frames, and some newly painted items to create this grouping on a blank wall in my makeup room!

And as you can see I added the lace to some of the frames! I love the pattern of this lace! I just cut it and some kraft paper to fit the frame and put it in behind the glass! I took the mirror and medium sized ivory frame from the gallery wall in my kitchen, spray painted the large frame green, and the stars (which had been awful silver and black when I got them) gold at the same time I painted the small frames!

I am so pleased how this turned out! I love the arrangement, contrast of colors, and the lace!

Next up, the scrapbook paper.

I spray painted these two frames (from Walmart for $1.00 each) and cut out squares from two different patterned sheets of paper. I love how the aqua looks with the ivory and gold. I placed these on some built in shelves in my makeup room. So cute, right?

I finally have my rustic milky pastel painted mason jar!

And it didn't cost me the $15 or $20 they charge online. Nope! $0.50 for the jar, and old sponge brush, and some bottles of ivory and bright blue paint I already had on hand that I mixed together to get this shade! I love it! I'm thinking of possibly distressing it more because I want some of the paint to chip but otherwise I'm absolutely thrilled with how this turned out!

Since this was only painted on the outside I can actually put water in the jar which means I can use this as an adorable flower vase! I can't wait to get some fresh flowers in there!

I'm using a few of the glass items in my guest room...

This wood dresser was empty and screaming for something on top. With the help of the glass bowl and the glass jar with buckle (which I've filled with some lace scraps from the frame project) I pulled out some old books, a few glass soda bottles, and a wood plaque I got from Walmart a few years ago. I love how these items look together. I think there is a nice contrast between the really fancy bowl & lace and the old books and soda bottles.

Something I'm really looking forward to it the potential for using that glass jar as storage. I didn't have a need for it in my home right now which is why I chose to incorporate it as decor in my guest room but the lid and buckle are in great condition and make this jar great for storing small items!

These next two items I didn't do anything especially creative with them but I still wanted to show you where I'm using them in my home.

First, the large glass jar with lid...

This, like the small buckle jar, makes a great storage piece that can be both pretty & functional. I almost always have a small bag of gold potatoes sitting out on my counter. After washing out this jar and looking around my house I honestly couldn't stop thinking about that ugly bag of potatoes! With my luck, they all fit in the jar and I was able to throw out the bag! I don't think I'll always keep potatoes in here but it is working great now and when they run out, perhaps I'll move it somewhere else in the house. Who knows! 

(Isn't organization the best? It never has to stay the same!)

The last item I have to show you is the Love sign I got for $0.50!

I've placed this in a glass front cabinet in my family room. I like how it contrasts with the rough wood piece next to it and the decorative glass vase. I really want to paint these wood cabinets an ivory color and then distress them so the brown wood shows through. Even then I think this small sign will look great!

And there you have it! That is my latest yard sale adventure. I honestly think the most fun part was going to the yard sales all morning one Saturday and then the DIY projects afterwards! Plus, what store can you go to and find unique items for DIRT CHEAP!?! Oh that's right, you can't (well unless we're talking thrift store)! So my advice for you? (Because I'm giving advice now....)

Save some time for yourself this Saturday morning to go yard sale hunting!

Pick up some great new (to you) items and get those easy, creative, diy projects going in your own home!
